Gentian is a bitter which may be used to stimulate the appetite and digestion by stimulating the digestive juices
Accelerates the emptying of the stomach
May be useful in the treatment of convalescence
May reduce fever and anaemia
Generally fortifying effect
May be useful in the treatment of anorexia nervosa, alimentary insufficiency, biliousness as well as jaundice

As a tea

Put ½ tsp of root in a cup of water and boil for 5 min. Drink warm 15-30 min before meals or when acute stomach aches.

Bitter, sialagogue, hepatic, cholagogue, antimicrobial, anthelmintic, emmenagogue.
